Norrisk Client: Everything About the Minecraft Launcher
If you’ve ever looked into mod clients for Minecraft, you may have come across the NoRisk Client. It is a free launcher and client from Germany: you install it once, sign in with your Microsoft account and start Minecraft with ready-made performance mods, HUD displays, cosmetics and a friends list. According to its homepage, around 36,000 players used it within 24 hours in October 2026.

Who programmed the NoRisk Client?
The client comes from the NoRisk Client Team and is closely linked to the German YouTuber NoRisk, whose German-language channel @NoRiskk has around 281,000 subscribers (as of October 2026). norisk.gg links to this channel as the client’s official YouTube channel. According to the site’s legal notice, the website is run by Palior UG (haftungsbeschränkt), a small German limited company based in Karlsruhe.

The launcher itself is open source: its code is public in the GitHub repository NoRiskClient/noriskclient-launcher. It is built with Tauri (React + Rust), licensed under GPL-3.0 and originally grew out of LiquidLauncher.
Which Minecraft versions does the NoRisk Client support?
The current Java version of Minecraft is 26.3 (released September 15, 2026; since 2026 Mojang numbers versions by year and “drop”). The NoRisk Client already supports it. As of October 2026, these profiles are available:
| Profile | Minecraft version | Mod loader |
|---|---|---|
| NRC 26.3 | 26.3 | Fabric 0.17.3 |
| NRC 1.21.11 | 1.21.11 | Fabric 0.17.3 |
| NRC 1.21.4 | 1.21.4 | Fabric 0.16.10 |
| NRC 1.20.1 | 1.20.1 | NeoForge |
| NRC 1.8.9 | 1.8.9 | Forge |
| Vanilla | 1.21.11 | – |
So for current versions the client relies on Fabric, for older ones on Forge or NeoForge. Version 1.8.9 matters mostly to PvP players, because many combat servers still run on it. Each profile has its own mods, settings and worlds, so switching between versions won’t break anything.
According to the website there is also a free Bedrock client and a mobile app (App Store and Google Play), but the site gives few details about them; this article focuses on Java Edition. Our comparison Minecraft Bedrock vs. Java explains the difference.
What are the best features of the NoRisk Client?
- HUD editor: more than 20 built-in displays (such as FPS, coordinates, keystrokes) that you can place and style freely.
- Mod search in the launcher: install mods from Modrinth and CurseForge in one click; the launcher handles loaders, versions and dependencies. How mods are installed otherwise is covered in How to install Minecraft mods.
- Cosmetics: more than 300 cosmetics and custom capes – but only other NoRisk players can see them.
- Hosted Worlds: share your single-player world with friends through its own address, without renting a server. The others can’t see your IP address. The world only runs while your PC is on, though. For worlds that stay online, take a look at free Minecraft servers.
- Friends & chats: see which friends are online, join them in one click and message them in-game. The project’s Discord description also lists voice chat and cross-server chat.
- McReal: one screenshot a day from your world, similar to BeReal.
- Minigames: small arcade games such as Tetris and Pong right inside the client.
Minecraft’s own graphics and control options are of course still there – tips are in How to adjust Minecraft settings.
What does the NoRisk Client cost?
The launcher and the Java and Bedrock clients are free with no subscription. The only paid part is the optional NoRisk+ (also called “Plus”), which unlocks extra cosmetics and extras. The website doesn’t list a price publicly; it only appears during checkout. If you invite a friend with your personal invite link, you both get 3 days of NoRisk+ for free.

For parents: Is it safe?
First of all: the NoRisk Client is not an official product of Mojang or Microsoft – the website says so itself. So it isn’t reviewed by Mojang. Even so, several things point to it being trustworthy:
- Known operator: according to its legal notice, norisk.gg is run by a German company (Palior UG, Karlsruhe). That means German law and the EU’s GDPR apply.
- Open source code: the launcher can be inspected on GitHub, so anyone can check what it does. Whether the actual client mod is fully open as well isn’t clear from the repository.
- Official sign-in: login runs through Microsoft. Your child never types their password directly into the client.
- Not a cheat client: the client ships quality-of-life and display mods, not hacks like fly or killaura. Extra mods you install yourself (such as minimaps) may be banned on individual servers, though – server rules always apply.
What you should still watch out for:
- Only download from norisk.gg. Copies and fake pages with similar names are around (for example on itch.io). Third-party “NoRisk” downloads can contain malware or Trojans.
- Social features: a friends list, chat and shared worlds mean contact with other players. Talk about whom your child accepts as a friend, and that strangers shouldn’t be invited into their own world.
- Purchases: the game is fully usable without spending money. NoRisk+ is a subscription – agree beforehand whether and how much money may be spent on cosmetics.
- Age rating: Minecraft itself is rated USK 6 in Germany, PEGI 7 in Europe and the UK, and ESRB E10+ in the US. The client has no rating of its own.
