Who Is AviveHD? The Key Facts

AviveHD, whose real name is Lucas Michels, is a German YouTuber from Kottenheim in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. He has been making YouTube videos since December 14, 2012, which makes him one of the veterans of the German gaming scene. His videos are in German. What sets him apart: he has stayed loyal to his hometown and still lives in Kottenheim.

With more than a billion video views, AviveHD is one of the most successful German Let’s Players. His career started with gaming content but quickly grew into a mix of Minecraft, challenges, reaction videos and comedy formats that made him stand out.

The Early Years (2008–2012)

Lucas took his first steps on YouTube back in 2008 – when he was just 12 years old! On his first channel he posted piano music. That musical talent would resurface later in his songs.

But his interests soon shifted: video games became his passion. After finishing Realschule (a type of German secondary school), he started working toward his Fachhochschulreife (a German school-leaving qualification for universities of applied sciences), but dropped out when he received an exciting offer: the travel company Ruf Reisen offered him an advertising deal that took him to Australia. That decision marked the start of his creator career.

Starting on YouTube (2012–2014)

On December 14, 2012, Lucas launched his YouTube channel AviveHD. He originally started with Call of Duty Black Ops videos and classic Let’s Plays. His high-energy style and his humor went down well with viewers.

In 2013 he increasingly shifted his focus to Minecraft and comedy formats. Thanks to his creativity and consistency, his community grew steadily.

The Breakthrough (2014–2017)

With the launch of “Der kommt Flach” together with rewinside, AviveHD became widely known. The format went viral and brought him hundreds of thousands of new subscribers. Working with established YouTubers such as Paluten, ConCrafter and Taddl made him known across the entire German YouTube scene.

His participation in Varo 1, 2 and 3 cemented his status as a fixture of the Minecraft community. Through the networks Studio 71 and Divimove, his work became more professional.

Establishment and Growth (2017–2020)

In 2016 he started working with Water GmbH, a professional influencer agency based in Bedburg, Germany. The agency took over management of collaborations, brand deals and the further development of the channel.

AviveHD diversified his content: alongside gaming, he added challenges, reaction videos and IRL content (in real life). He worked with major brands such as Google Play, PUBG Mobile, World of Tanks, The Division 2 and FIFA 19.

A special highlight: in 2020 he appeared as a guest on the children’s show “Die Sportmacher” on KIKA, the German public children’s TV channel. There he tried his hand at breakdancing with BGirl Melina, Germany’s 2018 champion. The show aimed to motivate young viewers to try new things and stay active.

Today: An Established Creator (2023–2026)

Today AviveHD works with the INSIGHT Agency, which specializes in creators, brands and fans. With several thousand uploaded videos, he is one of the most prolific German YouTubers.

His videos reach impressive view counts, and he uploads new content very regularly. That kind of consistency over more than 13 years is remarkable in the fast-moving world of YouTube. In 2025 he took two new steps: his first novels and an appearance on the survival show 7 vs. Wild.

Management and Team

From 2016 until around 2022/2023, AviveHD was looked after by Water GmbH (Bedburg). This agency handled:

• Influencer campaigns on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook Gaming
• Brand deals and collaborations
• Strategic development of the channel

Today AviveHD works with a professional team of thumbnail designers, video editors and management; the INSIGHT Agency lists him as a “non-exclusive talent”.

Best-Known Projects & Series

“Der kommt Flach” – The Cult Series

AviveHD became famous above all for his legendary series “Der kommt Flach” (roughly “Here comes a corny one” – in German, a Flachwitz is a groan-worthy pun or dad joke), which he created together with German YouTuber rewinside (Sebastian Meyer). In this series they presented the corniest jokes, “yo mama” one-liners (“Deine Mutter” jokes in German) and dark humor – often with well-known guests such as Taddl, ConCrafter, Paluten, Sturmwaffel and many other YouTubers.

The series became so popular that it even had its own app, where fans could collect the best jokes and mark their favorites. “Der kommt Flach” is considered one of the iconic YouTube formats of the mid-2010s and introduced AviveHD to a wide audience.

Current Formats

• Minecraft Helden: his main series (“Minecraft Heroes”), in which he takes on various Minecraft projects and challenges – the third season is running in 2026
• Various challenges: from “try not to laugh” challenges to creative gaming challenges

• Reaction videos: often together with rewinside and other creators, e.g. reactions to “YouTube-Kacke” (YouTube Poop–style remix videos)
• Gaming content: mainly Minecraft and Fortnite
• TikTok reactions: he reacts to viral TikToks and trends

7 vs. Wild (2025)

AviveHD was one of the seven participants in season 5 of the German survival series 7 vs. Wild, which is set in the Amazon region and ran on Prime Video from October 7, 2025. For most of his fans, it was a completely new side of him – far away from Minecraft.

Varo 1, 2 & 3

AviveHD took part in the first three seasons of Varo – one of the biggest German Minecraft events. He teamed up with KranCrafter and fought other YouTuber teams for the win. Varo was one of the most important formats in the German Minecraft scene and helped many participants become better known.

YouTuber Insel 1 & 2

On YouTuber Insel (“YouTuber Island”), AviveHD built a shared Minecraft world together with other well-known creators such as iCrimax, Syou and many more. The project brought the German gaming community together and gave fans crossover content from their favorite creators.

Minecraft Walls

In Minecraft Walls, AviveHD competed against other YouTubers in PvP challenges. The format put gaming skills and strategic thinking to the test in exciting matches.

• “Red Circle” – early musical experiments
• “Minecraft” (feat. Danergy, 2023) – his most successful song, with more than 2 million views on YouTube. The song celebrates the love of the game and is very popular with fans.

• Diss track against Standart Skill – part of the “Wenn ich du wäre” challenge, in which YouTubers had to “diss” each other. The track got a lot of attention, but of course it was all in fun as part of the series.

• “Eiskrieger” (October 9, 2024) – one of his more recent songs

AviveHD’s gaming setup

AviveHD hasn’t published a setup video, and he doesn’t list his gear in video descriptions or on Twitch. Lists online that claim to show his “setup” don’t cite a source – so we don’t list anything here.

Merch, Books & Fan Items

AviveHD doesn’t currently promote a classic merch shop. His books, which he links in every video description, are the most popular – ideal for young fans who would rather read than watch videos (note: they are in German):

• 🛒 Die Himmelskrieger: Ein Roman von AviveHD

His video descriptions also feature sponsors (currently a lemonade brand) – these links are labeled as advertising.

Friends, crew & collabs

AviveHD regularly works with other well-known German creators:

Close Collaborators

• rewinside (Sebastian Meyer): long-time partner – together they made “Der kommt Flach”, “Wenn ich du wäre” and many challenges
• KranCrafter: Varo 1–3 teammate
• Danergy: music collaborations, the “Hättest du eher” format; also appears in his new comic
• iCrimax: YouTuber Insel, Minecraft projects

• Alphastein (Who’s Your Daddy)
• Doctor Benx (Minecraft Walls)
• Standart Skill (diss track as a fun project)

Family and Private Life

In November 2022, AviveHD shared important personal news with his community: he had become the father of a daughter. The mother is his girlfriend Alina, with whom he lives in Kottenheim.

On June 5, 2025, he announced the birth of his second child – also a daughter. Today AviveHD combines family life and his YouTube career, and occasionally gives his fans a glimpse into his private life without revealing too much.

• Polish roots: Lucas has Polish ancestors, which he occasionally mentions in his videos
• Not “Pascal”: many fans thought his middle name was Pascal, but that’s not the case – he cleared this up in a video
• Early music career: his first YouTube channel (2008) was a piano channel
• Dad content: his father occasionally appears in videos and is very popular with fans
• Rooted in his hometown: he still lives in Kottenheim, despite his success

Income & net worth

AviveHD mainly earns money in these ways:

• YouTube ads: with more than a billion views and several thousand videos, the channel generates steady ad revenue
• Sponsorships & brand deals: collaborations with Google Play, PUBG Mobile, World of Tanks, The Division 2, FIFA 19 and other brands – currently, for example, a lemonade he links as an ad in his video descriptions
• Books: since 2025, his novels and comics have been published by BrainBook
• TikTok & Instagram: collaborations on his social media channels
• Music streams: his songs, especially “Minecraft”, are streamed on Spotify and other platforms

How much does AviveHD earn? There are no reliable figures: AviveHD has never disclosed his income. Amounts circulating online are based on rough estimates from view counts and don’t tell you much.

Is AviveHD kid-friendly?

AviveHD’s content is generally family-friendly and suitable for children, though there are a few differences to keep in mind:

Suitable for Kids ✓

• Minecraft content: absolutely kid-friendly, creative and educational – he labels his current videos as kid- and family-friendly himself
• Fortnite videos: action-packed, but without problematic content
• Challenges: fun and entertaining
• Positive energy: AviveHD is known for his good mood and positive attitude
• Books: a good alternative to screen time (for kids who read German)

Limitations for Younger Kids

• “Der kommt Flach”: corny puns and “yo mama” jokes are understandable for kids from around 10–12; younger children often don’t get the humor yet
• Dark humor: older videos sometimes had somewhat darker humor – not necessarily for elementary-school kids
• Older formats: “Die dümmsten Todesarten” (“The Dumbest Ways to Die”) and similar formats are less suitable for sensitive children
• Advertising: video descriptions contain ad links – a good opportunity to talk to kids about advertising

Does AviveHD swear? Hardly at all. His current Minecraft videos are clean; some older comedy videos had cheekier or darker jokes. AviveHD shows his face in his videos, so there’s no “face reveal” mystery around him.

Our recommendation for parents: for kids aged 8 and up, the Minecraft and gaming videos are no problem; from around age 10, most of the older comedy formats are fine too. With younger children (under 8), it can make sense for a parent to watch along. Keep in mind that the videos are in German.
