Gronkh: The Complete Creator Profile (Minecraft, Twitch, YouTube)
Gronkh (real name Erik Range) is the defining German Let’s Player and one of the best-known gaming creators in the German-speaking world (Germany, Austria and Switzerland). His videos and streams are in German. His legendary Minecraft Let’s Play with 1,278 episodes (2010–2014) shaped an entire generation and made him the figurehead of the German Let’s Play scene. Today his main YouTube channel has 5.04M subscribers, he streams regularly on Twitch, brings everything together on GronkhTV and tells the story of his own fantasy world in HORDE. Who is Gronkh? His importance for Minecraft & the German creator scene
Erik Range was born on April 10, 1977, in Braunschweig, Germany. After training as an IT specialist, he founded a web agency in 1996, helped build a game publisher from 2000 – where he also met his later YouTube partner Sarazar – and in 2009 co-founded PlayMassive GmbH (the games portal Playnation.de) with Valentin Rahmel.
From April 1, 2010, Gronkh published Let’s Plays on YouTube every day and became the face of the scene through his ongoing Minecraft project. He shaped the tone, editing and storytelling of German-language Let’s Plays – many of today’s creators name his series as an inspiration. In July 2014, his channel became Germany’s number 1 for the first time, with 3 million subscribers.
Key milestones:
- 2010–2014: Minecraft Let’s Play with 1,278 episodes
- 2012: three German Web Video Awards, including one for a GTA video with Y-Titty
- 2013: single “Elektrotitte (5.000 Volt)” with Sarazar – number 17 in the German charts
- 2014: inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Computer Games Museum in Berlin (with Sarazar); livestreaming on Twitch since 2014
- 2014–2021: co-founder of the game studio looterkings (game: Looterkings)
- 2015–2021: “Friendly Fire” charity streams, which together raised several million euros for good causes
- 2018: after a request from the German media regulator, he applied for and received a broadcasting license for his streams
- 2021: launch of GronkhTV and the pen-and-paper game HORDE
Besides YouTube and Twitch, Gronkh works as a voice actor in German dubs, for example in Cyberpunk 2077, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (Kingpin) and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.
Known projects & series
- Minecraft Let’s Play (2010–2014): a cult series with 1,278 episodes and more than 21,000 minutes of playtime; the 1,000th episode won the Let’s Play prize at the German Web Video Award in 2014.
- HORDE: a pen-and-paper RPG, played live on Twitch since 2021 – with Pandorya, PhunkRoyal, Liza Grimm and others. It led to a German comic series from riva Verlag, drawn by Marvin Clifford; volume 4, “Vom Heldenschein zum Heldensein”, comes out on October 16, 2026.
- GronkhTV: his own hub with a stream archive (since 2021).
- Friendly Fire: annual charity streams with creator friends; the sixth edition in 2021 raised more than 1.6 million euros.
- Howaizen Squad (HWSQ): joint Let’s Plays with Pandorya, Tobinator and HerrCurrywurst (2016–2019), such as Dead by Daylight and Garry’s Mod.
- Start & Select: a podcast with Joachim Hesse (2018–2022).
- Variety Let’s Plays: longer story series, survival and indie games, plus retro classics.
Gronkh and Minecraft
Gronkh’s Minecraft Let’s Play started on October 19, 2010, and ran until January 2014. Instead of a round episode 1,000, in 2013 he released a whole series of “episode 999” variants – a running gag many fans still remember. You can watch the complete series in the Minecraft playlist (in German).
In 2025, Gronkh returned to Minecraft in an unusual way: in the German version of “A Minecraft Movie”, he voices a reporter. He had originally been announced as the narrator in November 2024. Rewinside also has a voice role in the German version of the film.
Another fan classic is the “Kohle Metal” song by Rahmschnitzel featuring Gronkh – more in our list of the biggest Minecraft songs.

Gronkh presented his current PC on stream in December 2022; PC-Welt later listed its components. A best-of video from 2025 shows how he works at his desk with eight screens. On Twitch, he now links to “Gronkh PCs” from BoostBoxx and to HyperX as advertising partners – but it doesn’t say which devices he uses himself. We don’t include other claims without a source.
Merch & fan items
Official merch is available in the GRNK shop (German-language) – its motto translates roughly as “Made by creators. Meant for the community.” Besides hoodies, shirts and college jackets, it sells plush figures (“Cubies”), vinyl, a collector’s figure of the community mascot Lurch and HORDE products such as the rulebook and the comics. General tips on fan merchandise can be found in our guide to Minecraft merch for all ages.
Friends, crew & collabs
- Sarazar: a long-time partner – joint travel documentaries (“Superhomies”), the show “Let’s Play Together” (2012–2014) and the chart hit “Elektrotitte”.
- Pandorya: co-player in HWSQ and HORDE and Gronkh’s partner since 2012.
- Tobinator & HerrCurrywurst: part of the Howaizen Squad.
- PhunkRoyal, Liza Grimm, Marvin Clifford: players and illustrator of HORDE.
- Valentin Rahmel: business partner at PlayMassive and looterkings.

Private life
Gronkh has lived in or near Cologne since 2012. Since December 2012 he has been in a relationship with the streamer Pandorya (Tatjana Werth) – the two went public in 2016. He keeps other private details largely out of his streams.
Income & net worth
How much Gronkh earns or owns is not public – there are no reliable figures. Estimates online are usually extrapolated from view counts and are not a trustworthy source. His income comes from:
- YouTube ads on his main channel and many side channels
- Twitch: subscriptions, donations and ads
- Sponsorships: labeled partnerships, for example with game publishers, HyperX or BoostBoxx
- Merch: grnk.shop, including the HORDE comics and rulebook
- Voice acting for films and games
- Company stakes: for example Gods of Gaming GmbH, founded in 2018

A calm, knowledgeable Let's Player – but he often plays games rated 16 or 18 with violence and horror, and his humor is grown-up. FLIMMO rates the channel red; his 2010–2014 Minecraft Let's Play is the better choice for younger kids.
- Choice of games: Gronkh plays many titles rated 16 or 18 in Germany, plus horror games. The German parents’ guide FLIMMO (as of June 2026) therefore gives the channel a red rating, citing graphic violence and horror – while praising his calm, knowledgeable style.
- Humor & language: the tone is relaxed, but the jokes are made for adults. All videos and streams are in German.
- Livestreams: under Twitch’s terms of service, users must be at least 13; streams often last several hours.
- A good start for younger kids: the old Minecraft Let’s Play (2010–2014) is harmless and a piece of Minecraft history – ideally watch the first episodes together.
Does Gronkh swear? Sometimes. He isn’t a constant swearer, but his humor is aimed at adults and crude jokes and expressions do come up – both in video titles and in streams.
Has Gronkh done a face reveal? He doesn’t need one – Gronkh has shown his face on camera, on TV and at events for many years.
